Society for the Advancement of People (SOAP) is a local non-profit development organization, which was established in the year 2004 and registered in 2007 under the registrar general’s pursuant to the Trustees Incorporation Act to facilitate positive and sustainable change. SOAP has been growing and evolving into an efficient and effective community based organization in Malawi.
People, rather than resources, are at the center of SOAP development goal and objectives. Institutional processes being central to the vision and mission of SOAP, it is focused on people-centered development and puts people as the major propeller as well as recipients of development and SOAP theory of change propagates the bottom-up approach to development
SOAP endeavors to support the Government of Malawi in interventions in areas of Community Health, Human Rights Protection, Food Security and Environment, Gender Based Violence, Early Childhood Development, Human Resource Development, Good Governance Promotion and Education in Malawi.

S.O.A.P’s Objectives
- To advocate for the protection and promotion of human rights, democracy and good governance at all levels and to all its members.
- To promote basic information on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Education among the youths.
- To promote networking and collaboration among organizations, stakeholders, and institutions on cross-cutting issues affecting people.
- To raise and pool resources (i.e. Human, Material and Financial) and manage these for meeting the objects set out herein.
- To build the capacity of community members in response to HIV and AIDS and other chronic diseases by providing them with relevant information.
- To carry out maintenance of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS pandemic, and those that have been psychologically, economically and materially disadvantaged.
- To promote Sustainable Agricultural Practices through adoption of Agro-Forestry, Crop Diversification, Conservation Agriculture, Value Addition and Processing and Utilization of produce.
